[FREE-TO-PLAY] How will Free-To-Play work with Dice Throne Digital?

That’s an important question. And to be honest, it’s one we’ve spent a lot of time thinking about. Because if there’s no meaningful reason for players to support the game financially, then the long-term future of Dice Throne Digital becomes uncertain. And that affects all of us.

PLEASE SEE CAMPAIGN UPDATE #11 FOR OUR GOAL AND PLANS FOR LONGTERM SUPPORT & THE FREE-TO-PLAY MODEL.

[GAME ECONOMY] How much will it cost to purchase a hero and how long will it take to unlock a hero through free play?

~$9.99 USD to purchase. As for unlocking for free, The honest answer is: we’re still tuning it. There’s an important balance to strike. If heroes unlock too quickly, it becomes difficult to sustainably support and grow the game. If they take too long, it can feel frustrating or unfair. Our goal is to land in the middle, where unlocking heroes through gameplay feels rewarding and fair, while purchases offer convenience, speed, and a way to support the game (enabling us to add new content & features). We’ll be dialing this in throughout Alpha and Beta, with player feedback guiding us. We’re committed to getting it right so the game can feel great to play while still continuing to grow for years to come.

[EARLY ACCESS] Will our alpha/beta Hero progression be reset when the game fully launches?

Our goal is to carry your progression forward into launch. We know how important that is, and we will do everything we can to preserve it. However, during Alpha/Beta, we may uncover balance issues or technical limitations that require changes to core systems. In such cases, this could make a full or partial reset necessary. If that ever happens, it would be a last resort. We would communicate it clearly ahead of time and provide meaningful compensation or progression boosts to help you get back up to speed at an accelerated rate.

[GAME] Is there an AI opponent in the game?

A: Yes. The solo campaign mode is entirely against AI opponents. In Classic Mode, you can choose to play via matchmaking against real players or opt to play against bots instead.

Last updated: April 23, 2026 10:00

[GAME] Is there async play (take turns over time)?

No. Dice Throne Digital will not support asynchronous play. The game’s fast pace and interrupt-based abilities make async gameplay difficult to implement without slowing the experience.

Last updated: April 23, 2026 10:00

[GAME] How many players can play at once (1v1, 2v2, FFA)?

Matches are currently 1v1, and the Campaign Mode is solo. While we’d love to add Co-Op, Team, or Free-For-All modes in the future, they aren’t part of our immediate plans.

Last updated: April 23, 2026 10:00

[GAME] Will there be offline play?

Dice Throne Digital will require an internet connection to play. This helps us ensure a smooth, fully featured experience, as well as support things like matchmaking, progression, and ongoing updates.

[GAME] Will there be a tutorial for new players?

Yes, there will be a First Time User Experience (FTUE) designed to teach players the basics of how to play Dice Throne.

Last updated: April 23, 2026 10:00

[GAME] Can I use my upgraded heroes in PvP?

Leveled-up heroes will not be used in Classic Mode, which keeps matches balanced so everyone competes on equal footing.

Last updated: April 23, 2026 10:00

[FEATURES] Will there be voice/chat features?

While we’d love to include voice and chat features in the future, they aren’t part of our immediate plans for Dice Throne Digital. We’re focused on delivering smooth gameplay, cross-platform play, and rich solo and multiplayer content first. But perhaps in the future if this is very important to the community!

Last updated: April 23, 2026 10:00

[CAMPAIGN MODE] Will there be a co-op multiplayer mode in the campaign?

We really want this too! However, the cost to add this feature is prohibitive at launch. Our hope is that DTD proves to be a long-term financial success, which would enable us to add this (and many other) desired features. So please help support the game financially if this is something you would like to see!

[MIXED REALITY] Why did you decide to develop a MR version?

[KICKSTARTER] Can I back for multiple pledges so more than one person in my household has access?

Kickstarter only allows you to select one reward tier during the campaign. However, in the post-campaign pledge manager, you’ll be able to add additional tiers as add-ons.

Last updated: April 23, 2026 10:00

[PLEDGE MANAGER] Will there be a late pledge option?

Yes, there will be a late pledge period available after the campaign ends, and once the pledge manager opens, backers will be also able to upgrade their pledges or add the Strongbox Starter Set add-on.

Last updated: April 23, 2026 10:00

[PHYSICAL GAME] Is Dice Throne Digital replacing the physical game, or will both continue to be supported?

Dice Throne Digital is not replacing the physical game. It’s an additional way to play. It gives existing fans more ways to enjoy Dice Throne, while also opening the door for players who prefer digital games or don’t have a regular in-person group. At the same time, we remain fully committed to the physical game and will continue to actively support the community and the game, including our fast-growing Organized Play program.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
